We require you come in to see us in person. You may print out the history card and have it filled out, and bring it with you. The history card has to be signed and dated at the bottom of both pages. We also require a copy of your driver's license. We offer same day service if done before 4:00 pm. A $50 deposit and $10 connection fee are required at setup. |

We can do certified birth certificates only for people born in Texas, and death certificates only for people who died within the City limits of Canyon. Applicants must be immediate family members only. Birth certificates are $22 per copy. Death certificates are $20 for the first copy and $3 for each additional certificate purchased at the same time. Certificates may be purchased in person, by mail or by fax. If purchasing by mail, complete the form, sign, then mail with legible copy of requestors driver's license and payment to: City of Canyon Attn: Viatal Statistics 301 16th Street Canyon, Texas 79015 To obtain certificate by fax you will need to fax completed and signed form and legible copy of requestors driver's license to 806-655-5044. Payment must be made by calling 806-655-5003 and providing credit card information before certificate will be mailed. |

The water bills are mailed out on the last working day of the month, and are due by the 10th of each month. A 10 percent late fee is applied after the 10th. We accept cash (in person only), checks, money orders, debit cards, and credit cards. We also offer bank draft, which is taken from your bank account on the 8th of each month. Bills may also be dropped in one of two night drops we offer. They are located on the front of our building and north of our building across the street. |

You need to call (806) 655-5020 and check for availability for the day and room that you would like to rent. We have four different rooms for rent. They are different in layout, size, and price. The two big rooms have a wall between them that can be taken down to make a larger area. You may call and set it up by phone, but will be required to pay the deposit and sign the contract in person within 10 days to lock in your reservation. The rental fee has to be paid before the rental day. No smoking or alcohol is allowed in our facilities.

Structures may be built in portions of the special flood hazard area or floodplain, but they may have to be elevated to avoid flooding. No structure may be built in the floodway, however. |

A home business is allowed when it is carried on by a member of the occupant’s family, without the employment of additional persons, without the use of a sign to advertise the business, without offering any commodity or service for sale on the premise and the business does not create obnoxious noise or other obnoxious conditions to abutting residential property such as emission of odor, increased traffic, or generation of light or smoke, and where the business is carried on in the main structure only. A home occupation shall specifically exclude the operation of a repair garage, barbershop, plumbing shop, or similar activity. |

Pre-HUD manufactured homes are those built before June 15, 1976. All pre-HUD manufactured homes are prohibited in the City of Canyon. HUD-Code approved manufactured homes are allowed in any lawfully operated mobile home park. A manufactured home may also be located as a fixed dwelling in zoning districts SF-V, RC-2, RC-3 and PD. They may be located in zoning district MF with a specific use permit. A mobile home as a fixed dwelling must be skirted with a masonry resting on a concrete footing. |

Refrigerated appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioning units and central air conditioning units as well as washers, dryers, water heaters and other scrap metals may be delivered to the Street and Sanitation Department located at 301 First Ave. for recycling. |

After hours you can call the Randall County Sheriff’s Office at (806) 468-5751 and they will dispatch a City employee to assist you. |

First, you need to contact the City of Canyon Code Enforcement Department at (806) 655-5014 to obtain any necessary permits. Then, depending on the size of your current water meter, you may or may not need to increase the size of your meter. To do this, come to City Hall, 301 16th St., and the Public Works Department will assist you. If you currently have a 5/8” meter and only need to upgrade to a 3/4” meter, the cost is $125. If you need to upgrade to a 1” meter, the cost increases significantly due to the fact we must dig up and replace the entire line. The cost for this is $750. |
